Flame trap dripping oil...messy!
1995 850NA, 200K miles . There is a tremendous amount of oil leaking from the flame trap connection. The basket filter inside is clear, and I put a new O-ring. Even if there was a good seal, why is so much oil being passed through this tube into the intake? The whole area below the flame trap is saturated with oil, and there are nice spots of oil on my driveway!

Either the oil trap or possibly the passage into the block is plugged with crap ?? A lot of people report having to poke or pick out crap from the passage in the block when they replace that flame trap. Maybe the trap is OK but it can't drain the oil back into the oil pan because the passage is blocked.

keeping the PCV in good shape on an 850 includes replacing the hoses, the oil separator and cleaning out the ports in the block. Some techs will recommend dropping the oil pan and clean up the ports and the bottom end that way as well. As far as the hoses and oil separator, IPD and FCP sell a kit that includes all the major components (I think its in the $200 range). To do the job you'l need to lift the intake manifold so check Youtube for online how to vids (I'm betting there's a RobertDIY vid which is a good way to start gaining some insights into maintaining the PCV).
