Default Replaced Sun Visor, Now interior lights dont work and door chime is non stop.

I just replaced the drivers side on my 1997 850R. There were 2 wires, cut them and then spliced them together with the new visor wires. Red to red, black to black. Now the door chime is non stop and the interior lights arent working. How can this happen if the electrical route (red to red, Black to black) hasnt been changed? Let me know if any of you have had this problem. thanks!

Those wires to the vanity mirrors are always hot (even key off) and you likely blew the fuse when you cut the wires.

Default Ozark Lee!

Ozark Lee, I commend your knowledge and generosity!

Here's my tale: Beloved Red 1998 T5. Paid for. Comfortable & Fast.

I'd just paid to have the squeaky dashboard replaced for $1500. Straightaway, the heater core hose blew on 1-75 and drained the coolant. New hoses & head gasket: $2500.

So I paid the bill, got it home and replaced a couple of components, including the drivers' side door buttons. Got in the car w/ my family to go out to sunday dinner. The door chime won't quit. I unhooked the door buttons, chime's still dinging. OMG, it's the wires behind the dashboard! I'm sunk...

Then I see your reply on this forum, and I remembered that I had also replaced the drivers' side sun visor! One 10A fuse and I'm good to go. Thanks for sharing what you know.

John in Atlanta.
