Default Replacing my 1994 SC-810 radio.

Some of the lights on my SC-810 radio have evidently burnt out. The volume **** is also causing some static now. Would an SC-811 radio be a suitable replacement for my car? Are there any other models that might work?
Thanks!

The SC-811 and SC-815 would be good candidates for replacing your SC-810. You could fix up your SC-810 by removing the radio bezel and replacing the bulbs. A little electrical contact cleaner on the volume **** might clear up the static.

Thanks for the reply rp.

You wouldn't happen to know what replacement bulbs may be suitablefor this radio do you? That question really isn't fair, I suppose, because you don't know which of the bulbs is out!

The dealers that I have gone to have said, at times, that maybe the bulbs could be replaced, but they are not sure if that is even possible. They seem to want to flip flop on this issue with me.

With the volume control starting to know give me some static, coupled with the fairly modest price of the radios on ebay I am staring to conclude that the simplest, easiest, and fastest solution is to simply pick one up from there and be done with it.

Thanks again for your input.

Switching the radio out will take you maybe 5 minutes. I see the SC-810 cheap on eBay all the time. The 815 is pricier because it plays CDs. What I did is was keep my SC-810 and added a used Alpine CD changer in the glove box which came out cheaper than if I bought an SC-815. The dealer probably wants nothing to do with opening up the radio to repair it. They'd rather swap the whole thing. Even if they did offer to fix it, by the time you paid them for labor to replace the bulbs you could have yourself a brand new SC-815!

Very true. You never know when these bulbs will go out...I've never opened up my SC-811 but I have opened up the Climate Control unit and that takes Sylvania 2721. To be sure I'd take the radio apart and then take the bulb down to radio shack or an auto parts store.

Follow that link that Robert posted. I did and it worked just great. You can not get the bulbs through the dealer.
