That's the link I originally used, but the fuel pump housing will not come out of the tank because there isn't enough slack in the electrical wires & there are no connectors for them either.

If you can't find a connector there is always a chance someone before you cut and spliced the wires back together. Is there any place 5-18 inches from the top where it looks like it may have been joined?

You may just have to cut the wires and splice them back together. If so make sure you solder them and use heat shrink tubing. Second best to use the butt connectors that are weather resistant. They act like shrink wrap and when you apply heat they seal to the wire.

If you know what a regular butt connector (don't go there ) looks like these will be a bit different but you need them to keep the connection from corroding. You can also glue the crap out of it with RTV to seal it but it's sloppy.

Or ....... go old school and drop the tank to see if there is a connector under there someplace.

Maybe something in here will help you. I just love pictures.

There is a black rubber casing holding both of the wires. Shiny black, looks like a tube. does that mean it's been cut before?
I was considering cutting it, but I thought "If I cut it before I ask someone then I will find out later that there is a connection & I will kick myself."

I kick hard.

Tomorrow, when it's not dark as death outside, I will take some pics & post them. Maybe that will be more helpful than my ignorant descriptions.

I have these black & red wires that don't disconnect.. they just pin me down so you can only remove me a couple of inches.. just enough to tease you

These wires drift off into the darkness under the metal of your trunk. There isn't an end to these. You will pull out your back seat in an attempt to find the end of them.. all you will find is crayons & animal crackers.

I'm going to cut the black part off the wiring (that tube looking thing) & see what secrets it's hiding from me.
I'm so nervous about doing this repair because I don't want eff it up.. we really didn't have the money to buy the pump in the first place (we had to borrow money - I hate doing that)

So we ended up just cutting the wires. The pump housing was being a pain, but thanks to my small, yet strong girl hands we were able to take it apart, put it back together & put it back in.. now we are going to solder the wires, cover then in RTV, seal it with a heat shrink tubing, then tape them together with black fabric tape. (please note that I have no idea what I just said.. but apparently that's the super safe way). I'll let you know how it goes.

Don't forget to put the time capsule in there too as it will be a long time until you do it again !!

I left a lot of curse words & anger in there .. it's the time capsule that will never get old. My husband is still working on the wires .. & when I say "working on the wires" I mean "trying to get the fuel line off because he put it on too tight & now it won't get off" ..
