Reset service light
You need a special tool to do that or a code scanner with "reset service light". I bought the multi-brand code scanner from www.obd-2.com and it worked. It can also do some other stuff like read Volvo DTCs, reset SRS light, reset CEL, etc.
Hey now,
I own a 1994 850 Estate up here in Snow Bird country and would like to know how to reset the light that is to the left of the service light.
Is it possible?

On my 1995 Volvo 850, in the dash by the trip odometer, on the opposite side of the button to reset it, there is a rubber plug. If you take the plug out and push the button behind it, it should reset the service light. At least, that's what the dealer showed me last time I was there. Not sure if it is the same in 1994s or 1996s though. Hope it helps!
The Yazaki instrument panels have the reset button, the VDO panels don't. I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason for what panels went into what cars beyond that they plugged in whatever came out of the box next as the car went down the line.
By far, most of the panels are the VDOs.

I'm not sure ifdestination makes a difference or not as to what instrument panel they threw in the cars. But my wagon was from the overseas delivery program; I went to Sweden in 1995 to pick it up and then drove it around Europe for a year and then had it shipped home when I was done.
