REVIEW: OBX Strut Bar V2
#21
i HAD one too IMHO it was a decoration for me, i hardly noticed any difference at all. I was totally dissapointed when i opened the box and held it in my hand, the welds were fine, but it was so light and the brackets felt a little flimsy.
6 months before i ordered a EST carbon fiber strut bar, and it was on B/O and completly forgot about it, so 2 weeks after the EST came in, and i decided to buy it anyway as i was disappointed in the OBX.
it was 200$ and im not going to say it was worth the money, but wow is the front of my car STIFF, it hangs on like crazy in the front, and the back seems to fly around now, and i just noticed my rear sway bar is broken, so that might account for my flimsy rear end..
EST recommended.
mike850awd i have an answer for you.... Park with one of the front end wheels up on a curb, that should flex your frame enough to give you that extra 1/8"

That really doesn't look to be too bad of a bar for the price.
I was bummed at first when i started looking for strut braces for 850's. I don't know why they are so expensive. they're isn't really that much to them. not fancy joints like other suspension components, or exotic materials. (other then that fiber bar talked about on here)
Back in my Honda days (yeah i had a 91 CRX... now i make fun of Honda's. That's just part of my hypocrisy) I remember being able to get both front and rear upper strut braces for about 45 dollars, And the nice thing is that you are rewarded with quite an improvement. Of course this improvement was on a Japanese car made of recycled coffee and bubble-tea cans... Damn there i go again poking fun... =)
I'm sold. I'll buy the cheap-o one, be happy, and take the 120ish dollars I'm saving and laugh by way back to bank, with a car that stays that little bit flatter in the corners. =)

Personally... I would probably get an alignment done after having to put it on a curb to flex it, and then attaching a bar that is going to hold that flex.
Its possible that its only going to flex it back to where it is "supposed" to be... but... yeah never really know.
Anyways... I say alignment at least... it may just be an 1/8 inch up top... but who knows what that compounds into at the bottom of your wheels...
cheap-o insurance...
