95- 850 wagon. I want to add roof racks to a naked roof. I have been offered some early model racks (circa '96) for about $100...euro style, not the clip on ones. Just to confirm: With the addition of crossbars, these will support bikes and/ or lumber? What is the advantage to later model euro style? Anyone have another set to offer? The ones I am being offered are claimed to be scratched...faded. (Can they be painted?)

 

The ones off the 98 V70 are much nicer and do not peel. They fit just fine and have the lip on the edge of the windshield on the molding to stop water from getting in the side windows. I have used the Volvo Crossbars with Thule Kayak carriers just fine on mine.

 

I am looking to buy a trunk mounting bicycle rack to put onto my 94 850 turbo sedan..looking at a Thule Gateway 2 that claims to fit over most rear deack spoilers. Can anyone confirm this or recommend an alternative that will fit over an 850 sedan factory spoiler? I would like to NOT be dissapointed with my purchase
