service light
is there any technique of resetting "service light" on volvo 850 1996 sedan, i usually go to dealership to have it reset for 25 bucks + 2 hours drive one way to get there. thanks for any info.
The "Service" light and "SRS" light are NOT ODB-II. Probably, from proprietary Volvo computer. You may have to spend $100-$150 for a reset tool.

I just take my car into the dealership to have them reset the light and stamp the service schedule at the back of my owners manual.

I'm bumping this because I don't want to make a brand new thread lol.
I tried to reset my service light today.
I reset the instrument cluster, and once I started the car up, everything was dead. Within 2-3 seconds, the car started getting the fuel readings and engine temp and all that good stuff, but my service light was still on.
Is there anyway to reset the service light in this case, or is it impossible.
I might do the evap this summer, so I guess i'll take the bulb out then since I gotta dismantle the dash anyways..

↑Did you try the procedure from the beginning again? If so, did you exactly follow the manual (turn the ignition SW on & off accordingly when necessary), I believe you did, as you're above mid-level driver & owner at this point.
If re-doing the procedure doesn't do the trick, you may have to disconnect the NEG cable for 20 minutes and try re-doing it again. Make sure that you observe the LED on the OBD-I flash rapidly (it's so rapid that it almost looks like it's dimming).
