Take it to a Volvo dealer or a special Volvo indi shop that has the tool to reset it. It's not one that can be done easily. I have seen tools on eBay that can do it. Prices range between $75 and $125.

Most members take the bulb out. It's just a mileage oil change reminder.

I could swear that the $55 OBDII reader I had cleared the lights on my '95 850 turbo. But maybe it was just the check engine light that it cleared?

They can not clear it but if you don't believe me, go right ahead. On the pre '96 models you can clear the light with the OBD-1 tool under the hood.

dude like RSPI said, autozone wont help. only volvo dealers with the VOLVO SPECIFIC scanner can clear it. dont worry about it, its just an oil change reminder.

mine is on right now and turns off after 60 seconds.

It's not mine, it's cut and past. Since trying a local auto parts store is free I'd give it a try just in case.

850 (1996-1997) and S70 and V70 (1998)

You need an OBDII tool that resets Volvo service light codes. See this . They run about $100 to 200 -- or -- take it in to the dealer or independent Volvo mechanic and have them do it. Call to see if they charge for this first. Note: I've read reports of people having success with having the local Shucks/Pep Boys/Checker (now Oreillys) auto parts store do it.

1996 Model (Some of them)
On these models the diagnostic socket is in front of the gear stick. Switch the ignition on. As you look at the speedometer on the dash, beneath it opposite the trip reset button is a rubber plug. Remove the plug and with a thin pointer such as a ball point pen, depress the pin. This will reset the service light.
