Default service light reset?

I have a 95 850. I tried to reset the service light using the pin 7 of the "A" block and pressing the button 4 times, but the light never came on solid. It did blink when I pressed it.

I do have a OBDII connector inside, is it possible that my car needs the reset via that connector?

It should reset with the OBD-I system. Try it again and either speed up or slow down on the initial 4 button pushes - I tend to do at a rate of 1 push every 3/4 seconds to 1 second and it works for me. Make sure that you wait for the lights between the 1-5-1 parts of the procedure and it should acknowledge at the end with - I think - a flashing LED.

I tried pressing it fast, and slow, long and short. Never got the solid light. I'll try again.

So it seems my car may be a "96", as it was made in Oct 95. There was a rubber plug in the cluster to the left of the speedo. I pulled the plug and pressed the button behind it, and the service light went out.

It is not a 96. There is VERY few out there that have that button. I have only seen about 6 cars with them in all the time I have been working on them.

A Yasaki custer. The good news is that your odometer won't break like all of the VDOs.
