Default Settle or not?

Just got T-boned last night - to passenger front with SRS deployment and minimal damage to rear door too. As a 1997 T5 I suspect the insurance (other guy at fault) will want to total the car. Mind you OD is only 106K.
What would you do? (And no, I am not particularly handy. But I do love the car.) ... I'm still waiting for the insurance adjuster.

Do your homework now. Start looking for the same car +/- one year. Find the highest prices you can and print them. Have about 5 on hand. When they total the car and offer you a price. If its low, tell them you are seeing higher prices to replace the car. When they say that is what it comes in as ($) let them know you intend on replacing the car and this is NOT what they go for then show them your evidence.

I picked up an extra $1200 and $1700 on two Volvos we previously owned that were hit. Simply by having some real data.
