I found another 850 that I might want.

The owner says that the only problem is that you cant shift out of park using the brake pedal, but you CAN shift out of park using the shift lock button.

Easy fix or walk away?

So do I need a new microswitch or is just something that needs to be reattached with solder?

 

You might be able to just bend the switch lever and make it work but they are dirt cheap in Volvo terms. Just replace it.

If you really want dirt cheap cut the switch out all together. But you will hear a click every time you press the brakes.
