Have To Push Shift-Lock to Car Out Of Park
The R I bought is always stuck in Park unless I push the shift-lock button and hold it down while taking it out of park. The guy I bought it from said it needs a new solenoid switch under the console. He is sending me the switch. Any where to find instructions on how to install it? What's the switch called? If I knew that I could probably find the directions on installing. He said it is not hard to do.

HELP I have the console off and I can not figure out how to get the Solenoid out. The directions are for doing the microswitch. I am changing the Solenoid. That is what the guy sent me and assures me that will fix the problem.
Look at the last picture in this link:

That's what I'm trying to remove. I have the black plastic around it lose, but the solenoid is still in there real tight. I will probably figure it out, but I thought I would ask here first. Getting ready to eat something and then I will check back before proceeding.

I got it, and it works. What he sent me was the solenoid and microswitch assembly. That microswitch is a real pain to put in! Espeically at my age where my eyesight is not all that good. I did it by feel more than anything. I was kind of suprised when it actually worked when I put it back together. I broke that little flap thing off the mircoswitch trying to put it in and could not find it anywhere, so I took the flap off the old switch and put it on the new one. I lost one screw and could not get one of the bolts in under the armrest. I will need to get a small swiviel socket which I don't have. But I no longer have to push the shiftlock to get it out of park.
