Well that sucks!

Part yours out and buy a new one.

You can pick them up for $2,000 or less.

I got mine for $1,300. Needs some maintenance, but when all is said and done I'll have all the good stuff taken care of and be in for less than $2,000.

Then I can start modding.

Yeah. If you parted it out you could probably make enough to pay for at least half of a car payment. There's a lot of people out there looking for parts.

Well, get the head redone and that will take care of the blow-by becuase you will have the valve seals replaced during the head rebuild process. That was the problem anyways which needed to be taken care of. So, there is no extra work needed - optimistic thoughts

Peeing would have shocked the by standers not to mention the burning of the flesh. Water was donated without exposure if you know what I mean.

Performance parts:
IPD upgraded ECU
IPD Swaybars
Cold Air Intake
MSD Ignition
Exhaust was being hand made, 2 1/2 mandrel with Magnaflow muff.

I am going to take the head off first and then decide.

Damn, if I was in sacramento I would buy it first. I like that. The things that need to be done aren't that bad, easily fixable.

I might buy the CAI and MSD ignition if you decide to sell. Would have to see them first but that is after you make a desicion on whether to buy another 850.

Consider though, that is all he says is wrong with it. I am sure there is probably loads more problems.

He should be able to find a good clean running one for $1300 like VJC did.

And he says the transmission worked good the last time he drove it in '05 which is an easy way for him to wiggle out of a hard place if the transmission turns out to run like crap.

He obviously already stripped it for parts because the front seatbelts are gone so you really don't know what else he has stripped out and you may not find out until 3 months after buying it.

I also beleive OEM Volvo seatbelts will be expensive as all hell

Your right, but It would be a fun car to fix up. When I look for an R, I want something that I need to put some time and money into it, makes it more rewarding to drive. And then you know that everything has been done right with quality parts.

So even something left, probably you already have.

Someone on this forum was selling a turbo motor. I don't know how far it is from you but worth taking a look.

True. If you really just want to fix it and replace the engine, they're not really that expensive to do, it would definitely be cheaper than replacing the car, just a lot of work.

I have an idea....

Tell that guy you want to buy the motor only. With the economy the way it is and depending on how long he has been trying to get rid of it, he will probably agree.

Since the car is only $950 the motor should be at most $500.

I have a feeling if he agrees to sell the motor, he won't want to keep the car's carcas and will probably just give the whole car for like $500. Just make it perfectly clear that you are only interested in the motor. With two cars, you could put all the best of the parts into one and have a much better car than you did before. It would be like a personal junkyard for you.

Pull the head and check and see how bad it is.

that's what she said. But true, it may not be that bad and a head gasket set may be all you need.

I sent him an email and he replied, he wont sell the engine or tranny. Its the whole noodle or nothing. He said the motor has a lifter problem.

I checked compression last night. All good accept #5. 60psi. Next stop...head removal.
