Exclamation Stall/Rev Drop While Pulling Away From a Stop

So after a day of on and off driving my 95 Turbo seems to being having some strange problem. First the coolant gauge started going haywire going up and down slowly and once I was at a red light I tried to pull away normally only for it to stall. In order to get it off the line I had to throw gas at it like it was a manual gone bad or it would spudder out. Once I got home the rev's started going wild, they would fall down to 500 then shoot up to 3000 without any input from me. I'm having a friend come out with a OBDII scanner tomorrow and I'll post any codes we pull but there was no check engine light at all.

Here's the idle issue that I was speaking of.

The car also accelerates it's self without any input from me and it was difficult to start needing me to put the throttle down to get it started.

The throttle is cable operated, of course, so it's probably not moving. On a car with cruise control, it's possible, but not likely. More likely you're dealing with an air leak.

I have never seen one with the idle air control valve gone bad. I am not sure how I would experiment with that.

A good scan tool will help. "Code reading" will not help, you don't have any codes to read. What you need is the data. Throttle position, air flow, those would be most interesting.

The difficulty starting sounds like you may have a vacuum leak. It's also common to have a leak between the turbo and the throttle (lots of plumbing there). The temperature gauge is worrisome. Not sure what to think about that.

I would check all vacuum lines to make sure they are not cracked and are connected properly. Next check the Idle air control valve at the throttle body. Lastly it could possibly be the coolant temperature sensor. WHen they go bad they typically cause an erratic coolant gauge and can cause a mildly fluctuating idle.
