Steering column alignment
My 96 850 Turbo has a cocked steering wheel. It sits off centered, slightly to the right. When I align my steering wheel perfectly forward, it veers to the left, to get it to go straight, I have to have the steering wheel slightly to the left. Can I adjust it? Or is it a power steering problem? It happened after hoisting my car up, I got an alignment, it didn’t help. What can I do? Thanks guys.
Generally you can get them to line up. It sounds like when they had the wheels off they may have disconnected the rack and the steering wheel turned and then when they put it back together you ended up with your current problem. I agree with JimKW, take it back to whoever did the work and ask them to correct it.
Yep, someone messed up when they aligned it before. Normally they put a wedge thing between the wheel and the seat with the wheel perfectly centered. Then they align the front and rear wheels to the steering wheel. At least that is what they have done on mine. Sounds like they forgot to center your wheel. Take it back to them, it should have been obvious to the Technician when he test drove it after the alignment. Had it happen acouple times to me before and it always goes back and the managers never argued. I think they just assume the average person won't complain.
