Default Sticky trannie

Well bought another 850 n/a for 400 del buckies. 180k on it motor knocks yada yada But it does run, move and start. The trans is super sticky. it goes into gear but gota push rather hard and reverse will slip out if you dont hold it there. The car has been sitting since march so lack of use???? Still seems a bit to hard even for that amount of time. Cant drive it around much on acount of the engine knock(to be addressed in different post) The guy I bought it from said he put brass bushing in the trannie so it would shift smoother but im not sure as to what he ment. Thanks Zech in Wi

brass shifter bushings in the the shifter cables that sit on top of the tranny. Could be from sitting for a long time. Try changing the fluid in it. If it slips out, could be shifter cables need replacing or something internal in the trans. Since he has brass shifter bushings, then it's not the old rubber bushings which it typically is.

Since he put in different bushings it might just need to be adjusted. Maybe it isn't being fully engaged and that's why it slips back out.
