Default "Sticky" Fuel Guage

After first fill-up of wife's new (actually demonstrator/loaner) V70 the fuel guage only went up to about 1/3 tank. It inched up to about 1/2 as I drove home. Tried rocking car and bouncing on the bumper. No joy. Wife drove about 20 mi. the next day and it did heal itself. I suppose it's a sending unit/float problem. Curious whether anyone has seen this before in the V70. Thanks for any theories.

Have the Dealer look at it on some of the early ones where the wires run through the tank the wires get stuck on the float.

Thanks, tech. I probably also should have mentioned that we let the level drop til the low fuel light came on. Wanted to make sure that was working, and it did, pretty much just like the manual said (1.8 gal. remaining). Put in 17 gal. This will not be a common practice, I hope. Like I said, it's the wife's car. If problem continues, I'll definitely get dealer to check it.

Just filled tank for the second time and the guage behaved. We let the level go down to 1/4 before filling. Guess it didn't like being run almost empty.
