Stupid Car starts when it feels like it
#21
Thank you. I bought the car looking like new in April, for 1300. Front end shook all over when you hit the brakes and didn't feel safe so I got new hub bearings, new brake discs and pads front & rear, and a tie rod. Then a full tune-up; cap, rotor, plugs, wires, oil change, fresh antifreeze, cleaned the MAF. Shortly after all that it began refusing to start. New coolant sensor didn't fix it, changed the coil, still refused to start. Priced the crank and cam sensors, (about 150 for both from rockauto) then went to Pick N Pull and bought them both for $23. Buying all my parts the low cost way from FCP Groton and Rock Auto, doing most work myself, total cost in the car is now 2000. Runs and drives like new! And starts every time! Body and paint near perfect, interior with heated leather seats in 95% perfect shape. The rear spoiler paint was peeling like a bad sunburn, so I sanded it and sprayed with the proper paint, looks a lot better. Could use more clear coat... The car was in Sweden until 2005 when it was imported by swedish nationals who immigrated to the US, so it has this special delivery sticker on the window. I wonder if there are any differences from a car that was originally delivered to the USA. Do all 850's have these little lights on the side fenders, I wonder? Or is it a swedish thing? Now that it is finally a dependable runner I will Finally, change the title into my name, today! That should only cost around $125 or so...
