Oh yeah, OEM for sure, because any aftermarket radiator will surely leak within 6 months to a year. Yeah right, what a crock! Go ahead and spend 2-3 times as much for oem and get the same result.

It's just a car people!! Where do you think radiators come from for these cars? They are not built under candlelight by fine craftsmen in Sweden. They come from the aftermarket.

Why is it, when people look to spend thousands of dollars on high performance parts, they don't blink an eye when it's an aftermarket company but when It comes to basic old run of the mill parts, it just has got to be OEM? You only see this psychosis when it's a "high end" car like Porsche, Merc, Volvo, Jag, etc. Sure, the car was top dollar when new but now it's only worth about 2-5k. Why would anyone spend top dollar on oem parts when their car is only worth the average amount of a 3-5 year old Carolla?

Come on people, It may be a "Volvo" but it's an old Volvo that is not worth much.

I could understand if we were talking about a newer car and we were concerned about paperwork and resale value. Yo'yo's that pay top dollar for slightly used cars just have to have all OEM parts, even though they have no clue what the difference is. They have no idea what the difference is. They are just consumers that have been told that a Volvo must have records and all OEM parts.

If you still think your 15 y/o Volvo deserves and must have only OEM parts, knock yourself out and keep wasting your money.

Nissens radiators are the best fit out of the box.

I bought a nice radiator on ebay for around $100 for my turbo. Fit fine and never leaked, or exploded like the Nissens heater core I put in at the same time, when the car got just a little bit hot. What a mess. Thankfully the car was sitting in the driveway and not on the road.

Sorry Tech I wouldn't give two cents for a Nissens.

But the heater cores are different than the radiators. I have been using the radiators for 10 years and never had one come back leaking. Now the heater cores that is a different story. I would not buy a Nissens heater core. But the radiators yes.

I have also tried many different brands and the main concern is that the holes for the mountings usually do not line up and you have to drill new holes or make the holes bigger that are there.

Tech,

Not at all questioning your experience or opinion, I hold them both in high regard. I'm just really PO'd with Nissens. What a mess after all that work.

For others replacing their heater cores .....go with the Behr. An absolutely superior product for not that much more money. Best deal I found was here after I paid more.

My humble opinion on radiator replacement, patients, not an easy job at all (when doing it without help), even when the holes line up. lining up the intercooler, condenser and radiator and keeping it all together while a bolt or two are started in the header panel, plain and simply sucks. I used a jack to support the three when I tried to align the bolt holes. Even though, not easy.

I understand I know your bad experience was with the heater core and not the radiator. That is why I replied back again.
