Transmission Cooler
One of the previous owners of my car had cut the lines to the stock tranny cooler, and rerouted the lines to a small auxilliary cooler that's mounted in front of the radiator. I am assuming the stock one must have leaked. My question is do you think this cooler will be as efficient as the stock one, or should I try and figure out if the stock one is useable? If it does leak, is it possible to just replace the cooler, or does the whole radiator need replaced?
That's exactly what this person did, but I am wondering if an auxillary cooler is enough to be the only cooler for the fluid. I flushed the tranny fluid today, and it looked like coffee. I think I'll wait and flush it again in 1,000 miles and see what it looks like then. If it's still black then I think I'll go ahead and replace the whole radiator.
