Default transmission shifting problem

I recently purchased a 1995 850 wagon(non-turbo). After I drive about 8 miles and the transmission warms up the shifting problem starts. When slowing down to a complete stop after driving full speed, the transmission downshifts a little hard just before I come to a complete stop. Then when I hit the gas to take off, there is about a 3 second hesitation before it goes into gear, then it shifts into gear and jerks the car before it takes off. This happens every time I come to a stop and take off. It does this every time I drive it and only after the trans warms up. I am going to try to add some Lucas tranmission fix to see if that clears it up unless anyone has any other suggestions. Should I drain some of the fluid so I don't overfill it, Or should I flush the whole system? Also, how do I reset the service light, there was no owners manual with the car.

thanks,
kevin

you should check the condition of your transmission fluid. soon! i've had some minor tranny issues that have been taken care of by flushing the old fluid out and refilling with new fluid.

all you need is patience, 4~5' of 1/2 inch clear tubing, some tools, buckets, rags, and a transmission funnel. you dont have to buy the "kit" but the instructions are very helpful.

good luck!

Definitely drain and change the transmission fluid. You would be surprised how dirty or low fluid can affect the transmission's behavior

Try pulling trouble codes as well.

A few of us are going thru this as well.

See these threads I posted in:

To follow up, the tranmission slippage has gone down drastically, in fact I only noticed it on my 400 mile roundtrip a month ago. Driving 10-20 miles on the highway and city I don't get any more slippage after adding the LucasOil. I still haven't flushed it, we just bought a house with a garage and we are moving in at the end of the month. I plan on doing it then. Hopefully it fixes it, or at least prolongs the life. I've had this slippage for at least 20,000 miles though.

(knock on wood!!!)
