Trying to run cell phone charger

If you look inside the lighter socket, you'll see a vertical strip of metal which makes contact with the lighter body. This strip provides the electricity to close the loop and cause the heating element to get hot. Your charger will also have a thin metal strip along the side. You'll have to lineup the two strips and make sure they contact each other when you insert the charger. Once you do that, it should be fine.
Another thing you can try is to gently twist the charger once its inserted until it stops. The theory is that the two strips will come into contact and they should be thick enough to allow current to pass through. My charger has a red light in it to easily show me when it’s getting power.
If you remove the charger, just make sure you remember the angle that it's inserted so you don’t have to lean over and peer down all the time.
