Default Turbo question...

Ok so I had this guy at a turbo shop here in Miami tell me that I could swap out my 15g turbo cartridge, for a 16t or a 19t Cartridge and it would fit in my 15g housing.....
Is this at all True????

Yes, it is. The downside is that it will probably cost you just as much as buying another turbo. At least if you go with genuine mitsubishi parts. I bought my 16T off ebay for about 200 bucks and it was in perfect shape. It was used, but genuine mitsu/volvo and had ZERO shaft play.

Copy that So 16T and 19T will just bolt right up to the manifold?

Cause That is defiantly cheaper than Getting just the cartridge..

Ok the reason im asking is that ive noticed in the last month or two ever since I replaced all the intercooler hoses, vac hoses, and put in the IPD CBV I am getting 12 to 14 psi under full throttle...I have tried 3 different gauges thinking it was a bad reading on the gauge. I thought I was only supposed to be getting 10 max, cause it is controlled by the ECU.

I took it to that turbo shop today to see what was up they tested it and came up with 13psi. But he says there is minimal play.
Is this a sign of the turbo starting to take a crap?
I dont want to put the new exhaust on and have to pull it in a month to replace the turbo.

Well, the straight housing or angled housing for the 16T are going to both be bigger than the flange on the 15G, so you will have to change your downpipe (or at least the flange) to accomodate it.

Your increased boost is probably due to the stiffer spring on the CBV, if I had to guess. If a turbo shop told you that you have minimal play in the turbo, you are probably fine leaving it alone. I had a TON of play in mine (somewhere between 3/16 and 1/4 inch in and out play, total) so I just elected to replace it.
