Using Seafoam before Oil Change?
I have an 1994 Volvo 850 and will be changing the oils soon. I just bought this car for $500 buck cuz the other owner could not get it started. Well, I did, it's a great car. Anyway has anybody used Seafoam in there oil prior to oil changes. I want to clean this sucker out good before I do oil, plugs. Etc. any input would be great. It a Non- Turbo.

I have to help clear some tapping valves. Its ok to use but I would not drive around on it. Get the engine warm and put it in. Run the engine for a few minutes then let it sit overnight. The next day, start it again and get it to temp. Shut it off and change the oil.
I've used tranny fluid before doing a change and I do drive around with it in there. It's basically just a quart of 10 weight oil it just has more detergents in it than motor oil. Seafoam works great and you can drive on it ... dedicated engine flush --> follow the directions on the can !!
Ok thanks I will do that. I'm going to just idle it for a bit, then let it rest and change it the next day. I thought I was going to just buy and sell this car, but it runs pretty good as is after I got it running, and for 500 bucks. I'll just keep it for a while.
