Default Vacuum hose on wastegate acuator

Soooo, the other day the vacuum hose that runs from the solenoid to the wastegate acuator cracked away and fell off the solenoid port. I drove it to the auto parts store and the car was sooooo much faster and boosting super hard!! It's awesome. Why is this happening? And is it bad to keep it like this?

VERY BAD and will likely DAMAGE YOUR BOTTOM END = Bend rods.

You are OVER BOOSTING because without that vacuum tube, your wastegate is staying closed.

My wife calls it "The Final Hurrah!" Going out with a bang. LOL This is a common cause of cars being in the junk yard.

The waste gate is what limits your boost to a maximum pressure. its possible to overboost by driving with a failed waste gate. best case is you blow off some intake plumbing, worst case is you melt a piston or snap a rod... The extra power comes from the extra boost - similar to changing the ECU - but even then its regulated - just to a higher number. The car is not designed to deal with the extra heat and pressure you'd generate with very high boost which is why people add larger oil coolers/intercoolers etc when adding bigger turbos. My suggestion is to drive easy (low RPMs) until you get it sorted out.

Thanks all for the response. OK well now I'm sad because I like that boost. I fixed vacuum line and everything is back to normal. But what would I need to do/buy for the car to have high boost like that and it be ok??

So it's a T5. There are a few options but you have to go hard to get that kind of power back.

For a quick kick, you can get a tune, there are a few good ones but with your current system, boosting at 15 psi is probably the most you want to go. That will pull hard once you get going. To much boost a low RPM's is bad on the lower end. So you want the boost to kick in at around 3,500 rpm's.

Start by getting a real boost gauge and install it so you can see what you are boosting at. You should be at 9.3 psi, or something like that. Then you can get a tune set to boost higher, like 12 to 15 psi. It will be hard for the car to boost and hold it if other parts are stock. Here is a quick list of the direction you can SAFELY go:
1. Tune
2. Larger fuel injectors.
3. Larger down pipe.
4. RIP kit.
5. Silicone turbo intake piping.
6. Larger turbo.
7. Larger exhaust.
8. NA cams.
9. NA manifold and throttle body.
10. More money to cover speeding tickets.
