Volvo 850 - ABS Fault Codes

What is the procedure to read ABS fault codes? Does it require a special scanner? I am thinking one can use the ODB II port inside the car to read the codes.

If it is a 94 or 95 you can do it from under the hood. 96 and 97 have to use a scanner to read the codes.

It seems he has a 96...so YES, you need a special Volvo Tool to read the codes and clear them.
Wondering if you are not facing the very common ABS module failure on those year 850s?

The common symptoms would be - ABS and /or Tracs OFF lights staying ON intermittently and the speddometer migth also die once in a while.
