Volvo 850 Back Door Not Opening
The back door (passenger's side) of my 1993 Volvo 850 Turbo is not opening from the inside or outside. At first, it could open from the outside, but not inside. I switched the child safety latch to "on" to see if that was causing the problem. But when I closed the door, I could not open at all.
So, I turned on the car, closed the doors, and tried to use the general unlock/lock switch for all of the car doors, but that door still does not unlock. Any ideas?

LOL, yes, the child lock disables the outside handle. So when you threw that switch, you locked that handle out.
Pull the back seat out and remove the door panel. After that, try to figure out why the inside lever is not working. You can pop the latch with a screw driver with the panel off.

That's strange. Why would a child safety latch prevent me from opening the door from the outside? As far as removing the door panel, the door doesn't open. So, I can't get to the screws. Still, thanks for the videos. But since I can't open the doors, I won't be able to use them. Maybe in the future. It looks like I'll need to take this in to get fixed.

True. I guess my passengers could simply crawl through the window. LOL. Still, the question is: how do I remove the door panel? I've done this before with my front driver's side and front passenger side doors. But since the door is shut and I can't open it, I can't get to the screws. The screws for the 1993 Volvo 850 are under the door panel.

Rear Doors Stuck With Child Lock Engaged... Help!
Hey everyone, I know I’m posting to an old thread, but I’m desperate. Both of my rear doors are stuck shut due to the 3” connector breaking. No longer having those levers connected means my rears doors won’t open from the inside or out. I’ve removed the panel. I was able to find one lever that opened the door. Yay- don’t get too excited. While I had the door open, my 7 year old flipped the child lock. I said, “what did you do? Put that back” he flipped it back (so I thought). I shut the door and now it is stuck. When I try and pull the lever down (which opened the door last time) it is loose with no tension and the door won’t open. All I can think is that the child lock was still engaged when I closed the door.
How do I disengage the child lock from inside the door panel while the door is shut and the safety lock engaged?!!!! I’m at a loss and feeling so frustrated. I’m a pretty tenacious person. I’m a single mom and news photographer. There has to be a solution to this without it costing me thousands at the dealership. HELP!!!
