Volvo 850 GT "Check engine light on"
I have a 1996 volvo 850GT. My check engine light keeps coming on every few days. I have taken it to the shop several times and have been told tests show no problems yet light come on a few days after being reset. Am I doing damage by driving the car?
Please Help!!!!!!!!!

CEL has most likely been turned on for the following reasons if it keeps coming back:
- Retired O2 sensor(s); turbo models have 2 O2 sensors.
- Vacuum leak/Air:Fuel mixture problem that is making the O2 sensor putting out out-of-range signal.
- Misfire.
Visit a local AutoZone (or any parts shop that provides free OBD-II diagnostic service) and let them show you the code. Have them reset the system (deleting emissions-related codes is illegal in some states but the clerk could be decent enough to "fat-finger" the scanner), and see if the same code returns. This narrows down troubleshooting process.
I'll let others jump in.
