Default Volvo 850 Keyless Entry issue

Hi all, new to the forums here. Having an issue with the install of the oem keyless entry system in my 97. I plugged the black box in behind the glovebox, and installed the relay in the footwell area as well, but as soon as I plug the black box in, the door locks go up and down non-stop without me pressing anything. Left alone it could probably do it all night. This is the second black box that it's done it with too. Is it possibly the symptom of a bad relay? Or am I missing something?

I believe the 97 is different than the 94-96, what shape is the fob you are trying to integrate, It should be a two button rectangular shape vs the two button square.

I haven't even begun to use the remote, the locks just pop up and down once the box is hooked up. I do believe I have the wrong remote though anyway

Based on your description of the problem, it sounds like you are adding the keyless system to the car. If so you may be adding the wrong one for the car... Someone else may be able to chime in here but I believe the 97 uses a different setup than previous years, my 97 does not have the box behind the glove as my 94 does. The 97 also uses a different fob than the 94. The 94 fob is square, the 97 fob is rectangular.

Ok going through my notes, the 97 keyless relay is on the driver's side under the dash. The 97 uses a "dual relay and acts as the receiver as well. I will take a closer look this weekend and see if I can get you a picture.

This would be the correct relay and fob for the 97. Under dash driverside's against the firewall. There may be a single brown 210 relay there now. You will need to remove it, put the correct 210/211 in its place, source the correct fob and program it.
