hi guys

just joined the forum after recently acquiring a volvo 850 "93model

great car but having trouble fitting an after market stereo.

iv located the factory amplifier and disconnected the connector.

are the wires for the speakers connected to this connector?

any help would be much appreciated...

What kind of aftermarket stereo did you buy? did you buy the harness for the stereo as well?

is it simply jus plug and play??

 

it pretty much is, I installed a after market stereo into mine within 20 mins, Just match the wires by color, and make sure you tape up the wires with electrical tape.

least that how it was for me.

 

Are you using or not using the factory amp?

 

i have the same question, i also bought the harness adapter and connected it directly like there was no amp., i want to use my stock amp, what do you have to do to your amp in order for all of your speakers to work?

 

The harness should work. The amp is a great design where is it just a pass through. You end up with the same harness whether you use the factory amp or not.

 

but if you just attach the harness not all of your speakers are going to work.

i located the amp and have removed id. attached the wiring loom to the end that was plugged into the amp.
works a treat!
