5000 T-5Rs were produced worldwide, of which 2000 went to the US: The 1995 850 T-5R was limited in exterior paint color choices:
  • cream yellow - 2000 worldwide including sedan and station wagon, 800 to US market
  • black - 3000 worldwide including sedan and station wagon, 1200 to US market
So actually black T-5R's are more commom than yellow.
I don't know where you got these numbers, but they are wrong. There were only 904 T5R's imported to the US and of the 904, 185 were yellow. I have e-mailed the seller to find out the mileage. That's a good deal for $3500 if it's in decent shape with decent mileage. I would not mind having another one. I like the rarity of it.

Here's a link that has a chart with the number of T5R's produced and imported by country.

No. You're wrong. If there were only 5000 T5-Rs produced worldwide, 3000 of which were black and 2000 of which were yellow, that doesn't leave much room for the olive green T5-R now does it? Your information is wrong.

CurranH thank you very much for this thread.

I WISH THESE OTHER TWO GUYS WOULD CUT THE CRAP NOW!!!

Their constant bickering is what makes me stay away from most message boards. Making this board look like volvospeed and I never go there any more.

Oh yeah car has 220K showing and the oddometer is broke. I sent him instructions on how to get actual mileage, but have not heard back. I'm not interested in one with those kind of miles and it does not have the Titan wheels.

I have a 97 850 - and my odometer has stopped... the thread I found only works through 95. Is there a way to do it with 97s, or do I have to take it to the dealer and pay them to use their diagnostic tool?

You are better off starting a new thread when you have a different question like the oddometer question. I wrote that thread and that was based on doing my 97 so they are the same.

yellow t-5r rarity by numbers - Volvo Forums - Volvo Enthusiasts Forum

depends who you quote:
"5500 T-5Rs were produced worldwide, of which 904 went to the US: The 1995 850 T-5R was limited in exterior paint color choices:
  • cream yellow - 1975 worldwide including sedan and station wagon

  • olive green - 0500 worldwide including sedan and station wagon" -wiki

and:"The limited production T-5R is available in only two colors: Black and T-5R Yellow. T-5R Yellow is available only on this limited edition 850...North American Availability: 1,000 1995 model year vehicles

Please note that the specifications and/or equipment levels listed in this release are correct at the time of writing. They are, however, subject to change. Please contact Volvo Public Relations Department if clarification is required."

I recently updated the WIKI data. That information is public access and inserted by anyone that knows how to click the edit button. I actually updated the numbers on the site because I was tired of looking at the TOTAL number being 5,500 and the color numbers adding up to something like 6,759. Does anyone know 5th grade math (or is that 3rd grade math).

The USA numbers have been tweeked because of military imports and special orders placed before the cars were sold out. That is why there are a few green cars here in the USA.

None the less, there are people that are not Volvo Enthusiasts who do like the idea of having a rare car that is in good condition, that can be driven daily. I sold my sedan to one.
