Default Water pump question

I'm getting ready to change my timing belt, tensioners, etc. Going to change out the water pump while I'm in there. I'm going to be installing the
AISIN from IPD part no. 115410 with an aqua green gasket.

Do I need to put some type of silicone sealant on the gasket or is it sufficient without sealant? In dealing with gaskets in the past, sometimes the gasket is enough so I thought I'd ask you pros. I only want to do this once for the next 70K miles. Thanks in advance.

The gasket is enough. Just be sure to clean the motor off good. I did use a little bit of blue gasket maker, not needed, just what I did.

A little bead of silicone gasket maker will never hurt ya, just don't put a lot on the gasket, but it isn't necessary with that type of gasket...I'm just old school , and that's my preferance, don't like going back in on those pumps...to much work.

Please dont install it without some sealant. Just a very thin film will do(both sides), better safe than sorry.

I always use a little bit of sealant. Even if it isn't required I apply a thin layer of sealant because it helps keep the gasket in place, stationary, while my hands are busy with installing the component I took off or holding the component in one hand with the nuts/bolts in the other hand....
