waterpump 850 turbo
I have a 1995 850 turbo. If the waterpump was not working how can I tell. The car does not overheat and the heating blows hot on the interior. Is there a home test I can do to test the pump. I installed a new thermo a couple of months ago and when I changed out the tensioner and belt I did not do the pump because the forum said they were very durable. The car only overheated once this summer and I believe there may have been to much anti freeze and the cap was a little loose.
Any thoughts.

when a waterpump fails is normally spits/leaks coolant all over (often quickly emptying the radiator) the place, and if you dont notice the smell, the radiator warning lamp will come on when the expansion bottle gets low. and if you miss those clues... the temp gauge may climb, but it will be too late then as the temp sensor is now dry and will need a really eff-ing HOT block to make it wiggle.

lulz. Same here. Except the timing belt, that's something I don't think you want to wait until it goes, how do you say, SWEALANG!
