Default Weep hole ?

Ive had a leak coming from what some call a weep hole, a small notch between the oil pan and trans. Ive just replaced the PCV system yesterday and still have a small leak. Thought relieving the pressure would help but still have a small leak. What is a weep hole for? And does the oil dripping from this hole indicate an oil pan seal or a( rear main seal) ? Thanks.

If you are running synthetic oil, you may want to revert back to "high mileage" dino oil. I had to do that on my 850T. Castrol, Pennzoil etc high mileage oils have seal softeners which can be just enough to stem the weeping from a rear main. Any other seal I'd say just replace...

mine appeared to be leaking from that spot turns out the distributor side cam seal was leaking but only at high speed. Make sure nothing up top is ok.

That would be your RMS leaking. I currently have a leak there as well. I usually do not believe in oil additives but someone talked me into trying Valvoline Maxlife high mileage oil (synthetic blend). I swear to you my leak has been reduced to about 1/4 of what it was before and I monitor this via how much oil I have to add. I used to add about 1 quart every month and now I can get to the next oil change (5000 miles) before a full quart leaks out.

I live near Chicago and run 10W-30 in summer and 5W-30 in winter. I have never been so impressed before with a "gimmick". If you have a small leak, it will probably get rid of it altogether.
