anyone have any tips on doing a front wheel bearing on a 96 turbo automatic. willI need a press or any other special tools to do this my self

You will need a inverted torxes socket. I forget exactly what size it is.
Other than that it is pretty easy.

Yes you'll need E-Torx sockets.
