won't start, battery fine.
Any suggestions for my 850 that won't start? The battery was replaced last Oct., the fuel pump comes on and there is no "clicking sound" in the starter. All the fuses look good. I think it is something electrical, but not sure where to start. Thanks for any suggestions.
Not that all this matters but how do you know that the battery has not been drained? Have you tried to get a jump? Have you checked the volts? If so, how many volts is it reading with and without load? What model car do you have? Is it turbo or NA? What year car do you have? Does the car crank? How do you know that it's the pump that you hear?
It is a 1994, 850 turbo wagon. My husband tested the battery, I don't know w or w/o load, and said it was good. Everything electrical in the car works, ie: windows, sunroof, dashlights, radio, etc. I assume it's the pump I hear because, the sound doesn't come from the engine compartment. It does not crank. It doesn't do anything but turn on the dash lights inside. We did have to replace the fuel pump last year and also had to replace a relay at the same time. Could this have something to do with the relays?
Shouldn't, it should crank. Have him try to get it jumped. If that doesn't work, it is possible that power is NOT getting to the starter. If power IS getting to the starter and it's not cranking, it's likely that the starter is gone.
