Well more drama to add to my bad luck and this motor rebuild.
After Someone trying to help out (Person nameless) on getting my pistons cleaned up before putting it all back together. They put them in a bucket of solution for cleaning parts. I had said I wanted to remove the bearings out of the rods so nothing would happen from the solution. They said no they would be fine. Well yesterday after removing them from the bucket to finish cleaning them off. What do I find you ask?

The cleaner has eaten the outer babet layer off the bearings! (F***!!!) Now I am screwed I have been cutting every corner I could on this rebuild. I needed this car back asap and now it will be down for atleast another week now!!! But I am not paying for the new bearings they are buying the new bearings. If it had come to me having to buy them Yellow would have been down atleast 6 more months or so. This happened at a really bad time and I cannot afford to have to keep buying parts. If stuff like this keeps happening it will be parked for a while.

But tomorrow I will be working on it. The crank will go into the block. I am also going to finish cleaning the head and putting new valve seals in and lapping the valves.

Hopefully I can get something done tomorrow. I will update after getting home. I will have more pics as well.

Damn man, I wish I could help you out with this build. if there's anything you need that you have a hard time getting, I'll be more than happy to search the boneyards around here. granted, you wouldnt want to use used bearings, etc, but if it were a head or valves or something you could get by with, just let me know.

Thanks for the kind words!
But things are the other way again. Friday my boss ordered the bearings. But the parts guy dropped the ball and no bearings today hopefully tomorrow.

It just never ends!!!

What did you end up doing with your crank? Milled? Replaced?

I got a good crank out of another motor we had at work.
Mine is going to hang around for a little bit. I might have it turned then use it for a motor build.

Then at about 5:00

And to top it all off I think I was running lean even though the wide band was saying I was running rich!! Maybe time for an upgrade on injectors!

Sorry tech. I might have missed something, but did you spin a bearing?

Looks like it is going good for you. Good luck!

Yes spun bearing #3 and was about to spin #2 at a track day. I think oil temps did it in.

Yes if I decide to race it again it will have a BIG oil cooler and racing oil in it.
Now I also need to find a set of white injectors for it. The wideband was saying rich all the time but have signs it was running lean.

Tech: I will keep an eye out for white injectors up here. Looking for a set for me too. if I find them, they're yours.
