Well plugs looked ok. Valves grayish/whitish. Exhaust manifold WHITE.
It really pisses me off as well.

Alot of drama on last Sunday.
I got it all together and turned the ignition on to crank the motor to build oil pressure. When I turned the key on the engine wiring harness fried really bad. I think the cause of it burning up was the PTC wiring. I had an issue with it a few months ago. I think the shielding fell of and the wires touched. We had just happened to have a junk car out back. I went and got that harness and installed it after repairing some of that from where people cut plugs off of it. Then cranked it to build oil pressure. Then it would not start had to fix the injector relay wiring. Got that fixed and she fired up. But I heard a knock in the lower end again. I was so pissed I just shut it off and went home depressed. Tonight I pulled the oil pan again and checked things out. #5 bearings spun in the rod. The rod and bearings looked really good. So I put it back together again and checked clearances with plastigage and it was within specs. What I think might have happened is I put the bearing cap on back words causing the improper clearance causing the bearing to spin. I have everything back to proper specs.(torque)

On sunday I will put the oil pan back on sealed and try to fire it up again and see what happens. I pray all will be fine with it.

But still have another issue to work out. I think the ECT wires in the harness I put in are bad. I keep getting an ECT signal missing permanent fault. So I might have to rewire the ECT plug.

But I will update on Sunday hopefully.

Back in the '80's, Volvo was using some recycled rubber to coat their wires in the wiring harness. They stopped that didn't they? I have wondered if they would still have that problem. I guess after 15 years a wire harness could easily be bad just from age.

My brother has a truck parked beside his garage. He went to do something to it and noticed a chip munk or something go in the engine bay. He opened the hood and found almost ALL of the wires under the hood eaten away by critters. I mean down to the connectors. I don't know what he is planning to do with the truck but I think it's totaled.

That is a new crank shaft right? Might have to do a whole new rotating assembly.

It runs!!!! I have video of the first start up. I will post it tomorrow.
Got home and found out I have an oil leak. Tomorrow I have to replace the oil cooler line o-rings at the oil pan. Also have to replace the dipstick o-ring.
But other than that is seems good. We will see in the next week or so.
