Hello, Volvo say that the stop/start battery doesn't need servicing etc... however my stop/start rarely works. If I go for a long drive 200 miles+ and use a lot of engine braking (something which I always do) the stop/start works once.
Does anyone else have issues? Know how to fix it? Can it be charged/replaced etc...
Pete did you ever get a resolution for your issue? I need to replace my start/stop battery for my 2015 V60, but I'm struggling hard with finding ANY instructions for how to do this online.

Hello, I actually replaced the main battery and drive the car for about an hour or so with the stop/start turned off. After driving for an hour I turned the stop/start on and it started working.
Turns out my main battery was pretty dead. I took my car to Halfords to get them to test the battery for me.
Ok friends...I just decided to go for it. bought the battery from my volvo dealer, about 115 bucks. Then I found the diagrams on volvo's website showing the relative location on my left side drive 2015 v60 t5. Took off the mesh panels around the r design bar, Took screws out and removed the r design bar. Then popped out the cowling plastic holding pins that hold the cowling on below the wipers. Popped off the right side windshield trim from the cowling. Then just pulled up the cowling piece to expose the battery. Piece of cake! Then I used metric sockets to remove the battery terminals (I can't remember the mm). Then used another metric socket to remove the battery holder. Took out the battery, swapped the new one in, but it all back together and voila. I drove it around the block, start stop worked perfectly and I didn't have to do any special work on the computer.
I learned that the battery controls more than just the stop/start function. It is essential in an idle engine state too in controlling extra cooling fans and other things that keep the vehicle running correctly. Is worth the money to fix if you can do this yourself. See some pics attached.
Yes stop start have slightly different batteries , but I would not bother changing if yours starts the car, the fuel saving is virtually nothing compared to changing the battery as long as the current battery does not cause other faults , I personally not a big fan of stop start , the amount of fuel saved is so small , really what are the manufactures thinking making this complex system for virtually 0 gain , if stuck in heavy traffic just turn it off
Expensive starter, extra sensors etc just to get better ratings that do not really work in the real world
Most modern engines idle at around 1l/hr as there is no load , but then If you are in heavy traffic every day then maybe?

I have a 2009 c30 1.6 drive e and stop start was not working since I owned the car, took it to a Volvo dealership who used to service the car for 12 years with previous owner. They did a battery health and said the battery needed replacing.
I sourced a battery stop/start from Euro car parts for my car. Fitted the battery and it’s still not working.
please shed a light guys
ps don’t think my car has an auxiliary battery as that’s what Volvo said
