3rd and 4th gear grinding noise

3rd and 4th gear grinding noise
Hi,
My 2008 c30 t5 (manual) with 100k miles suddenly started to make a grinding noise (sounds like a dragging branch) when I am in 3rd or 4th gear, all other gears feel ok. Today was extremely cold ( 0 F, Ttoronto). I don't think that's the cause but it didn't help. Is anyone familiar with the C30 manual trans. Do you imagine this is something internal to the trans or could be related to the clutch? I'm taking it on Monday but want to inform myself prior so I don't get as hosed as badly as I could be.
