Default c30 battery dead? or is it something else?

Ok, parked my car and about 30 seconds after I walked out I realized I left the int. lights on. Quickly ran back and turned them off.

5 mins. later I went to start the car and it just went dead. Nothing worked including the locks, and my key was locked in the ignition.

10 minutes later the int. lights came back on, but were dimmer. I was also able to pull my key out of the ignition. But the Locks and everything else still didn't work. Some of the lights on the dashboard were on (mileage, temp). Tried starting the car again and as soon as I turned the key everything went off again. I also did hear fast clicking that lasted for about 30 seconds.

Really hoping this is just a simple battery being dead. Could it be the starter or something like that though? (it's early in the morning, and no garages are open yet, which is why I'm asking here)

car info:

2008 c30 2.4i
99,000 km. (bought it with 92,000 and am not sure if the batter was ever replaced)

no from what you are describing, it sounds like a dead battery. one problem causing a dead with c30 would be your subscrition to sirius (if equipped) expiring. that or just the age of the battery.
