Hey guys, I'm talking to Autocare, I have no clue what to do about getting an extended warranty, do you have any advice.

 

extended warranties are like insurance - they are based on actuarial tables that predict the expected cost of repairs during a time/mileage window then charge a bit more to make money. If you are shopping for a used car and can get a certified pre-owned at market rates then its worth it. Note that Volvo dealers offer the VIP product to extend your factory warranty so it may be worth a call for a quote and coverage. Essentially you are betting you will have repairs that cost more than the warranty costs. Best to shop around and compare the coverage fine print. Do they replace with Genuine Volvo parts? Can you get the repair done at your choice of shop - including a Volvo dealer? What's the deductible? What repairs are covered - and what are not? Do they have a fault clause? My sense is, extended warranties are good for big ticket repairs, which is the kind of work I'd want to have the dealer do with genuine parts given the option.

I searched for an extended warranty for my Overseas Delivery order of a 2017 XC90. I have not picked it up yet. The most professional and knowledgeable person to deal with was Michael Bernardo at Steingold Volvo, 401.723.4700 or Steingold Volvo Cars | Rhode Island's #1 New & Used Volume Volvo Dealership | RI Volvo Dealer. For an 8 year, 100,000 mileage Volvo warranty, I purchased the policy for about half the price of what a local dealer or two other providers would quote. How does he do it? He makes it up on volume. And having once had a third-party insurance provider that was unsatisfactory, I wanted to be sure I actually had a Volvo extended warranty.

No high pressure sales, Mike was professional and with a few questions steered me to what I wanted.
