Hi,

I'm in the market for a new set of winter rims / tires for my 2011 Volvo C30 T5. The door sticker shows 205/50R17 and my original plan was of course just to buy rims & tires to that size & spec.

That said, I have a friend that works for a tire manufacturer and who can get me a deal, but they don't have access to stock in the specific 205/50R17 size. They do, however, have access to plenty of 205/55R16. I'm wondering if anyone on here can speak to whether a set rims / tires in this size & spec would be a compatible, safe alternative on my C30?

Yes same diameter more or less but you have to get new rims and tyres , quite expensive but then you have winter tyres and summer , in RSA same tyre the whole year
