wrong dip stick reading???
I always seem to be busy when I need to change the oil in my wife's car (2008 C30 T5) so she takes it to the dealer. Recently after her last change I had to add 3/4 of a quart and thought the dealer short changed her so I decided I would start doing it myself but ran into a little problem. The car calls for 6.1 U.S. Quarts so in goes 6.1 quarts of Amsoil 5W-30. The dip stick shows it needs another .9 quarts? I called the dealer to double check the capacity and also check that the dipstick was correct P/N 30777500 and it is. We've owned the car since new so nobody changed the dip stick tube. Any ideas?

My 2012 Xc60 3.0T specs are 6.8 liters but it takes 7.4 Mobil One 5w30 Syn to top up the dipstick. Why? Same with my 2009 C30 2.4l. Is the container from Mobil overstating how much oil is in it?

Leave it for a few days and check then , many garages overfill these cars for the same reason , there are many oil traps in these motors , PCV etc and they need the whole day to settle proplely , many of these cars have oil leaking and gaskets broken due to overfill

One thing to try on your next oil change is to measure what you drained out and compare to what you added in (filter change adds about half a quart per most liturature). Also check the capacity for with and without a filter change. Funny thing for me is on my car, It takes less than the spec to get to the top line.
