Default 2002 C70 Newb, maybe

I am considering a 2002 C70. Is there anything that I need to know beyond the typical service records, maintenance stuff etc. Are they prone to anything in particular at a given mileage? Are there any specific gotcha places that while routines, can be heavy in the price department? Pure research right now, but there's one or two that have caught my eye. I'm coming out of a Miata that pretty much ran and ran with very little needed from me. OTOH, I've also owned a BMW or two, an Audi A4 Cab, and a Jag XK8 so I'm familiar with high end stuff and costs.

The main thing for Volvos in this year range is the timing belt issue. My girlfriends broke and it costed us almost 3 grand to fix. You should read the sticky for the best information.

Otherwise, great cars imo. I love mine!

MY plan would be that anything I got that I couldn't verify timing belt conditions, I would most certainly install a new one. Relatively cheap given the damage caused by a broken one!

While I'm thinking about it, what about turbo's? What is their expected lifespan and potential trouble spots?

Turbos, like my 2.3 can be worry free for 100-200k miles with proper regular maintenance.

The key is regular service at a Volvo dealer. If they recommend a timing belt get it now rather than pay big bucks later. The original cost of my 2002 C70 was $48,750; in other words, don't "cheap out" on maintenance and you're good for 200k miles. Good driving.
