hi i am new to the volvo family. want to purchase a 2007 xc 90 but i have read so much about problems with former years transmission. Has any owner of this type had any problems with transmission or any other major problem. this suv has 54000 miles on it . are there any other major problems that hit after the 54 miles mark. also if any one in the south has had major problems pleas respond. how is the fuel and dependability of the suv?

I am a Volvo lover, but please stay away from this vehicle. Do not buy a XC90 T6 all of them have transmission problems. There is even a civil class action lawsuit against Volvo Cars due to this transmission failure. I recently spend $5,259.81 at the dealership on what was supposed to be a new transmission and end up being a rebuild/re-manufactured one. Some owners of XC90’s have even paid as much as $6,000.00 in this Volvo so call “new transmission”. Most owners have reported other problems like bushings on front right and left, rear wheel bearing, electrical system failed, and water inside headlights or the cabin every time it rains or you wash the car. They use pleather for the seats instead of leather. The SUV is beautiful, but don’t let this fool you. Do not buy this car. Some vehicles have gone thru 3 transmissions. Do not buy any Volvo model’s. They are not the same since the company was sold in 1999. I use to have Volvo 240 GL back in 1990. I was safe and reliable. Shame they don’t make them like this anymore. Now days they are poorly manufactured.

 

Make the seller let you take it to an independent Volvo repair shop for a full mechanics evaluation & diagnostics! Always recommended when buying a used vehicle!
