Smile 2008 C70 Folding Roof Spare Parts Wish List

My 2008 C70 is in great shape, and the roof system has been well taken care of and has not been abused by the original owner or me, the 2nd owner. The headliner looks brand new. Due to the system's complexity, I considered maintaining an inventory of folding roof parts likely to fail. Does anybody have any suggestions they may want to share? As the car gets older, the availability of OEM parts may be at risk.

I also have a 2009 XC70 (the 2nd owner) and a similar interest in creating a "top 10 parts to fail" parts repository for that car.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

There really aren't that many parts.
My suggestion would to be to plan for the headliner to start falling. A problem that can be addressed with glue or even screws/rivets.

Other than the headliner, you would need to store all of the hydraulics, the censors and switches, and (of course) the pump.
But you'd never want to reinstall a decades old used part, if it were to fail, you'd want to have them rebuilt.

Some people use 2 part epoxy.
epoxy.i found it to be messy and if the repair fails, it ruins the clips.
I just Used commercial hot glue last time

Tlbecause it is so common, this is a topic you'll find documwnted inwvwry forum and group

There is a JB Weld 2-part epoxy for plastic that works very well. My repair has lasted 2 years so far

I used rivet/ screws (i guess that's what they are called) and used screw caps to match, as close as possible, the headliner. No issue in the 7 years I've had it.

OMG! Get the cables! They are SO freakin' hard to find, and if one fails/breaks, the top cannot be used.

Drive laughing!
