2010 C70 Won't Start...
News flash: Volvo is a company who wants to make money. Just like every other company that exists.
I think this has run its course. Good luck finding a car that never breaks when you decide to drive it over a parking curb.

ES6T has been very informative in his helpful replies to your problem. You are very unreasonable and vastly uninformed in the auto repair world, foreign or domestic. Good luck in getting help in the future!
Very good shot, thank you! I'd love to use it in my presentation if you don't mind.
This also reminded me of another simple modification Volvo can do to stop this from happening: make the dust cover a metal piece and extend it into the hollow space inside the pulley:

Now in order for any belt threads/debris to get into the timing area, they have to turn right, go down, then turn left... :-)
What do you think?

Agree: the difference is I usually call people who don't agree with me informative...
No, it's a you're too misinformed and stubborn to realize it won't work problem.
If a belt gets shredded now, it still must go up and over a lip and then down and around the pulley. If it does it now, it will do it with your waste of time invention. The only exception is if the part that is shredded is too short to make it up and over the lip on your pulley. But the lip is already too big to fit without hitting the tensioner. I've mentioned that, but you chose to ignore that fact and pretend the crank pulley is the only thing in the area.
You know what will work? NOT HITTING PARKING CURBS.
I'm actually surprised you are putting forth so much effort into this pulley idea that won't work instead of crying that the engine sits too low, this allowing non-careful drivers to hit things too easily.

Again, ignoring the issue with the tensioner and not explaining anything.
Your pulley will also hit the timing cover. But you fail to acknowledge that because you are basing it off a parts diagram and not real life.
I'm done. **** off.

Trust me, if you tell your physics teacher a rotating object will follow a trajectory like this:

She will be the first one to get pissed off! :-)
And if she is a Chinese, like those new Volvo company owners, she will get you shot! :-)

So if you simply believe your invention will work based on just an incomplete parts diagram, that means it will work? Despite the fact that in real life, it will hit the tensioner and the timing cover?
You want to talk physics? Remember when you thought you were going to invent a tensioner with a shut off switch? And you thought you could stop an engine going 750 RPM instantly?
You don't know what you are talking about. Good luck with your presentation. When they bring up all the facts I already did, is your plan to simply ignore them like you do here? Or give them some smart *** line that is irrelevant? Let us know how long it takes until they laugh you out and tell you everything I already told you.
This is the last time I am replying to this thread since you are incapable of actually debating in any sort of constructive way. I know I've said it before, but your stupidity is aggravating, especially when you chose to repeatedly ignore the facts. The good news is if you install your invention on your car, you won't have to go hit another parking curb to try it out. It will shred the belt pretty quickly since it will hit the tensioner.
So go ahead and get your last word in. I'm sure it will be irrelevant and meaningless and not address any actual facts. You're welcome for all the help and free information. I'll be sure to skip your post next time your car breaks down and you need help.

Yeah, if you don't like a politician, try to dig out something he did when he was a teenager! :-)
Even a technician knows how to play political games now! What a shame! :-)
