Do I really have to pay twice as much for a battery just because of the "mounting tab", or will a standard one fit? I need to replace the battery in my soon to be sold 1999 C70, it won't hold a charge at all. The cheapest I've found around town is $130, which is the same as a $70-$80 one, but with a different mounting tab across the bottom.

 

I bought mine at Autozone. You should buy the battery that is recommended. Looks like the cost is around $125 - $135.

 

The mounting blocks hold the battery in place @ the bottom! You could remove them and install any battery that would fit but you would have to buy a universal battery hold down kit that has the "J" hooks in the bottom to go thru he holes where u removed the mounting blocks and secure the battery with the cross brace and wing nuts that come with the kit.
